Prior Center for Performing Arts Tops Out
WORCESTER, Mass.- The topping out ceremony for the Prior Center for Performing Arts at the College of the Holy Cross took place on Monday, September 14th. A short video of the event can be viewed here: https://holycross.thankview.com/video/d285f6a2e6ae429d/patricia-haylon.
DS+R Partner-in-Charge Charles Renfro commented, “We are thrilled to see the building's spaces come to life, from the four pavilions that form the primary program to the “Beehive", already visible in its steel framing. The Beehive is intended to bring together everyday residents of the building and those passing through from other areas of campus, becoming a new, beating heart for both the building and the college. We look forward to seeing the envelope—comprised of interlocking weathered steel wrapped around concrete skin—come together as the building nears completion.
The arts and the performing arts endure as vital parts of our culture. Although it may be difficult to imagine, given today's circumstances, we will come together again and the arts will, again, become a central part of our society. We would like to thank Father Boroughs, Tracy Barlok, and Neil Prior, who has given name to this facility, as well as our partners Perry Dean Rogers, for the opportunity to work on this amazing building.”
