PAGEANT

The computer-generated animation uses digital imaging software to continuously morph a series of international corporate logos from one to the next, like a fluid depiction of mergers and acquisitions. A reflection on globalization, the piece was exhibited around the world at varying scales: it premiered in Copenhagen with the theater work (Monkey) Business Class, where it appeared across four screens; later, it was projected onto the gallery floor at the Whitney Museum of American Art, in New York, and at the Johannesburg Biennale; it was emblazoned across the facade of the Pathé Schouwburgplein theater during the International Film Festival Rotterdam; and it was shown on the ankle of a high-top sneaker at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. The animation is accompanied by a sound-track consisting of a low, vibrating drone that changes pitch only briefly — when the Walt Disney Company logo appears — before returning to the original tone.
